Betty Jane Evans

MEDINA — Betty Jane Evans, of Medina, passed away on Friday, January 11, 2013, at the Medina Memorial Hospital.

Miss Evans was born in the Town of Shelby, November 24, 1927, a daughter of the late George and Irene (Gardner) Evans. A graduate of Medina High School, class of 1946, she was a lifelong resident of the area. She enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, talking on the phone with her friends and was a great baker.

Survivors include her sister, Dorothy (late James) Flood and two brothers, Alonzo (Marian) Evans and Donald G. Evans, all of Medina; her niece, Linda (Gary) Houseman; two nephews, Gary Evans and Kenneth Evans; a great-niece, Lisa Jean Houseman; a great-nephew, Kyle Evans; special cousin, Norma Fisher;  several cousins; and her three good friends, Betty Skellon, Margaret Wasnock and Shirley Miller. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Leon P. Evans, on March 15, 1994.

There will be no prior calling hours. Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral service on Tuesday, at 1PM at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 West Center Street, Medina. The Rev. Dr. Stephen P. Devine will officiate and interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, West Shelby. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
