Helen Crowley

KULA, HI —

Helen Crowley peacefully and comfortably passed away, surrounded by friends and family, on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Kula Hospital, Kula, Hawaii, after a long illness. Born on July 2, 1930 in Medina, she was 82 at the time of her death.
The daughter of Frederick and Pearl (Ebbs) Crowley of the Lyndonville/Ridgeway area, she lived in the Medina area most of her life, having only recently relocated to Hawaii in January of 2012 to be closer to her daughter. She was employed as a clerk for the Department of Motor Vehicles in Albion for over twenty years, and had been active in the community as a volunteer for Hospice and the Medina Memorial Hospital Association of Twigs.
During her final year, she was intrigued by Hawaii, often commenting on the beauty of the island and the kindnesses of those who cared for her. She was fascinated by sugar cane: how it grows, is harvested, the manner in which it contributes to Maui's beauty, and by the changing scenery throughout each day. She enjoyed hearing about how the islands and mountains formed, what the surf was doing and whether the trade winds would blow the next day. Helen was much loved by the staff and volunteers of Kula Hospital where she resided. Her final wish on being remembered by those she loved was, "Just tell them: I'll see you later."
Helen is survived by her daughter, Sue Stone (Deborah Arendale) of Hawaii; two sons, Larry Andrew of Medina and Philip Andrew; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; her brother and his wife, LaVerne (Maxine) Crowley of Newark, California; and several nieces and nephews.
