ALBION —
Walter W. Howard, age 81, of Heritage Estates, died December 17, 2012, at his residence, following a long illness. He was born October 11, 1931, in Albion, to Henry Eugene and Hazel (Ferris) Howard and was a lifetime resident of this area. Walt was a lifetime member of the Albion Fire Department Hart Hose Company and was an original member and very active in the Albion Fireflies Tournament Team. Walter was also recognized for his work as a Retriever Trainer/Handler.
Mr. Howard was predeceased by a sister, Joyce Atkinson. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sharon; a son, W. Wright (Colleen) Howard of Albion; a brother, John (Ann) Howard of NC; sister-in-law, Gayle McCartney of CA; five grandsons, William, Nicholas, Jeffrey, Evan and Liam; as well as several nieces and nephews.
There will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends are invited to attend Walt's memorial service THURSDAY 2 PM, at the Albion Free Methodist Church. Interment will be private in Mt. Albion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Albion Free Methodist Church. Arrangements were made by Christopher Mitchell Funeral Homes, Inc.
