ENGLEWOOD, FL —
Marilyn "Lynn" (Hunter) Salembier, 78, of Englewood, FL, died, peacefully, at the home of her daughter, Denise Salembier on January 31, 2012. Lynn graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a degree in English from William Smith College in 1955. She later married Richard (Dick) V.Z. Salembier, Jr. and settled in Fairfield, CT to raise a family that grew to include three children. The family subsequently lived in Williamsville, NY, Delmar, NY and Pittsford, NY before Lynn and Dick retired to Florida, where they lived until Dick's passing in 2001.
Lynn was known as a compassionate person who often helped others in need, whether through volunteerism or by simply listening when listening worked best. Lynn loved seashells, needlepoint, mystery novels, puns, manatees, writing, show tunes, a bawdy joke once in a while, and, of course, her family.
Lynn is survived by her three children and their partners, Denise E. Salembier and Joyce Rizzolo of Scranton, PA, Richard V.Z. Salembier III and wife, Christine of Williamsville, NY, and Sharon L. Salembier and Roslyn Webber of Troy, NY; grandchildren, Russell and Rachel de Moose, Kendra Salembier and Margaret Webber; many sisters and brothers-in-law; beloved family friend, John Giesegh and wife, Robin; and countless friends whose lives she touched.
Her funeral will be held on Monday, February 6 in Englewood, FL. Interment will take place in late spring at the Royalton Mount Ridge Cemetery.
