Wilfred A. Mietz

NEWFANE —  

Wilfred A. Mietz of Newfane, passed away on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at the Newfane Rehabilitation & Health Care Facility. Mr. Mietz was born in the Town of Royalton on February 22, 1921, son of the late Andrew and Helena (Lange) Mietz.
Mr. Mietz was employed as an equipment operator for the Niagara County Highway Department. He was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church in Newfane and he had a strong faith and enjoyed working at the church. He also enjoyed his family and gardening.
Predeceased by his wife, Virginia Mae Mietz in 1994; a sister, Florence Faskel; brothers-in-law, Malcolm Parsels, Alvin Faskel, Fred Stahl, Walter Martin; and a sister-in-law, Violet Parsels. He is survived by two daughters, Carol A. (Lawrence) Stroh of Wolcottsville and Connie (Philip) Bartz of Newfane; nine grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Viola Stahl of Wolcottsville and Helen Martin of Akron.
There will be no prior visitation. Funeral services  will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Concordia Lutheran Church in Newfane with the Rev. Clarence Elliott and the Rev. Josh McGuffie officiating. Burial will be in Lynhaven Cemetery, Lyndonville, NY. Memorials to Concordia Lutheran Church, Newfane, Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wolcottsville or the Alzheimer's Association would be appreciated by the Mietz family. Arrangements by the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, Middleport, NY.
