Jean Hyndman, 80, of Lyndonville, passed away February 9, 2013, at Buffalo General Hospital, following a brief illness.
Jean was born in Bergen, NY, to the late Earl and Bernice Richard and was married to the late William J. Hyndman III.
Jean was librarian of the Yates Community Library when it was still housed in a store-front on South Main Street in Lyndonville, and also when it was moved to its current location. She also was employed by H & R Block in Medina, later working from her home doing bookkeeping and taxes. She was an active member of the United Methodist Church in Lyndonville for many years, serving in a variety positions. In the past several years, Jean became an exemplary example of perseverance, working her way back from several strokes to two loves of her life, reading and knitting. Along with scarves for Lyndonville area children, she was also working on the World Vision Knit for Kids sweater project. Jean also considered herself an "observer of nature," thoroughly enjoying the birds and squirrels that frequented the feeders outside her window.
She is survived by daughters, Lynne (Russell) Bentley of Lyndonville; Anne Hyndman of Lyndonville; and Cathy (Robert Jenkins) Parsell of Reno, NV; grandchildren, Kris (Denise) Bentley of Perry, MI, Kathy Galvan of Orlando, FL, Tara Neace of Lyndonville, Greg Gilbert of Sydney, OH, Kimberly (Jeff) Lathbury of Lockport, NY, Candi (Randy) Ferguson of Lyndonville, and Andrew Bentley of Lyndonville; great-grandchildren, Eric Neace, Jr., Nathan Neace, MacKenzie Rutherford, Jena and Emma Ferguson, Haley Bentley, Nickole, Gustavo and Nathaniel Galvan, Leonardo Lathbury, Allyianiya and Auston Bentley; sisters, Joyce Sedore and Janet (John) Nowak; brother-in-law, Roger (Maureen) Hyndman; a niece, nephews and great-nieces and nephews to whom she played a very special role.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Monday, February 25, 2013, at the Lyndonville United Methodist Church, 102 N. Main St., 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 PM, at the church with Reverend Sunny Mauser officiating. Memorials may be made in Jean's name to the Yates Community Library in Lyndonville and the Lyndonville United Methodist Church. Arrangements made by Bates & Tuttle Funeral Homes, 112 N.
