Dorothy Anne Wieczorek

MEDINA — Dorothy Anne (Welch) Wieczorek died peacefully at the Brothers of Mercy in Clarence, NY, on February 25, 2013. She was predeceased by her husband, Frank, in 1989. Dorothy was born in Medina on February 14, 1919, to parents Frank and Rose Welch.

After graduating  from Medina High School in 1937, she worked at Medina Provision and then the Department of the Navy in Buffalo, NY, and Washington, DC. She married Frank September 8, 1943, and traveled the country during his service in the military until settling on Mead Avenue in   Medina after the war. She remained on Mead Avenue until 2004. While raising a family she also worked at Birdseye Foods and retired from The T.J. Lipton Company. Dorothy was a member of Sacred Heart Parish. She was also a member of Lipton's Ambassador Club. She loved gardening, especially at the cottage the family enjoyed on Lake Ontario.

Dorothy is survived by daughter, Susan (James) Cofer of Lincoln, CA; and son, Stephen (Martha) Wieczorek of Clarence, NY; grandchildren, Brian (Kelly) Cofer of Grand Forks, ND, Stephen (Heather) Cofer of Brentwood, CA, Kate Cofer of San Francisco, CA, Charles (Wendy) LaDuca of Bethesda, MD, and Elizabeth LaDuca of Alexandria, VA;  great-grandchildren, Nickolas, Katherine, Lauren and Audrey Cofer, and Jake and Grace LaDuca; sister, Marcia Grimm of Medina, sister-in-law, Loretta Wieczorek of Brockport; and several nieces and nephews. Dorothy was also predeceased by her sisters, Eleanor and Marion; and brothers, Franciszek and Richard.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Brothers of Mercy Foundation, 4520 Ransom Road, Clarence, NY, 14031. Friends may call on  Friday, March 1, 2013, from 5-7 PM at the Cooper Funeral Home, 215 W. Center St., Medina. The Rev. Daniel J. Fawls will celebrate her Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary's Church, Medina, at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 2nd. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
