Michael J. Conley

MIDDLEPORT —  

Michael J. Conley of Middleport, passed away, unexpectedly, on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY. Mr. Conley was born in Lockport, NY, on June 7, 1954 son of Marie (Whitney) Conley and the late James Conley.
Mike has lived in Middleport all of his life. He  was a graduate of Royalton Hartland High School and he attended SUNY and Geneseo and had been President of Norco Machine & Sheet Metal Company in Middleport. He and his wife, SunneLou (Money) Conley, were married on November 19, 1983 in Middleport, NY. Mike was President of the Lewis Wilmot Fund, was a member of the Middleport Zoning Board and he joined the Middleport Fire Company in 1979 and the Exempt Firemen in 1989. He was made a life-member in 2004 and was President of the fire company 2006, 2007, 2008. His fireman's nickname was "Gonzo". He was also a member of Holy Trinity Parish/St. Stephen's RC Church in Middleport. Mike was an avid sports fan and Little League Baseball coach for years. He was a season ticket holder for the Buffalo Bills for 34 years.
He is survived by his wife, SunneLou Conley; his mother, Marie Conley; his children, Tamara (Matt) Stern of Middleport, Stephen (Jessica) Conley of Hilton and Catherine Conley of Middleport. Also surviving are three step-children, Eric Schumacher of Ovid, NY, Heidi Schumacher of Middleport and Erin Schumacher of Ohio; nine grandchildren, Matt Schumacher, Amanda Schumacher, Briannyn Schumacher, Brooklyn Schumacher, Tyler Schumacher, Jake Stern, Max Stern, Noah Hardy and Alex Hardy; and his brothers, Timothy (Sherry) Conley, Patrick (Jackie) Conley, Thomas (Amy) Conley, all of Middleport and Daniel (Charlene) Conley of Gasport; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and friends.
Friends may call on Saturday from 7-9 PM and Sunday from 3-7 PM at the Bates, Wallace & Heath Funeral Home, 38 State St., Middleport. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 12 Noon at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Stephen's RC Church, 21 Vernon St., Middleport, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. Daniel J. Fawls. Flowers are gratefully declined. Memorials to the Conley family would be appreciated.
