ALBION — Two people have been arrested on drug charges following an investigation by the Orleans County Major Felony Crime Task Force.
Arrested were Michael H. Tower, 29, of 349 W. Academy St., Albion, and Joshua J. Fisher, 21, of 14067 Waterport-Carlton Road, Albion.
A search warrant was executed Sunday at 349 W. Academy St.
According to task force Supervising Investigator Joseph F. Sacco, the arrests came after a five-month-long investigation into the sale and distribution of the prescription drug Oxycontin in the Village of Albion.
Sacco said the task force was assisted by the Albion Police Department, the police K-9 Unit, the Orleans County Multi-Agency SWAT Team and the Orleans County Sheriff’s Department.
Police seized Oxycontin pills, more than $1,300 in cash, a 25-caliber handgun, digital scales and other drug paraphernalia.
Tower was charged with one count of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of first-degree criminal nuisance and one count of first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child.
He was arraigned before Albion Town Justice Kevin Howard and was taken to Orleans County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail or $20,000 bond. He is scheduled to return to court today.
Fisher was charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He is due back in court April 7.
Police said further arrests and charges are pending in this investigation.
