HS BASEBALL: GI rained out, back at it Tuesday

Staff reports

Mother Nature claimed Monday’s Class A Far West Regional Championship between Grand Island and Aquinas, giving Vikings’ ace Joel Klock a full week of rest heading into tonight’s rescheduled contest at Batavia’s Dwyer Stadium. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.

The weather also gave Little Irish workhorse Jed Lemen, a nine-game winner this spring, a third day of rest after he tossed a four-hitter in the Section V title game Friday evening against four-time defending champion Pittsford-Sutherland. It’s unclear if Lemen will start, but he will be available to pitch.

GI (17-7 overall) enters the game on a five-game winning streak after winning its first sectional title since 1980 last Thursday against Albion.
